How to Apply for Benefits
The initial
application for benefits can be handled either by calling the Social Security
Administration at 1-800-772-1213, or your local Social Security Administration
office. When you call the 800 number,
you will be asked a series of questions to determine if you meet the non-medical
eligibility requirements for one or both of the programs. If you meet the requirements you will be sent
forms to complete, and an appointment will be scheduled for you to complete
your application with a local SSA representative in either over the phone or in
person.
You need to
be thorough in completing all forms. Be
honest and do not exaggerate or minimize your symptoms. Comply with all requests for information made
by the Social Security Administration.
If you need
help with the application process, and live in Kansas, please call or e-mail
us. We will be happy to assist you. If you have applied for benefits already, and
have been denied, we can help you appeal the decision and get you back on the
road to a successful claim.
